Part I: Soteriology in Christian Theology
This is our pilot episode of the September Soteriology Spectacular!!! We discuss what Soteriology is and the role that it plays in Christian theology and worldview. Soteriology is the doctrine of salvation and it is one of the categories that are studied in the discipline of Systematic Theology.
We discussed how soteriology is a great doctrine because (1) Determines a person’s eternal destination (2) Forms a person’s view of God in fundamental ways and (3) Establishes a basic framework for Christian living, but it is still small in that it (1) Does not suffice for a holistic theology and worldview (2) Leaves room for erroneous views of God and (3) Does not exhaust the richness of Christian living
We also discussed the biblical words for “save,” “salvation,” “Saviour,” and the like. We established a few contextual questions to ask whenever we see the word, “save.” (1) Who saves whom? (2) From what? (3) To what? (4) How? (5) When?
And we discussed three phases of salvation: (1) Justification (2) Sanctification and (3) Glorification
Thanks again for your participation!!!

Part II: Man’s Need for Salvation
Slides.
This is our second installment of the September Soteriology Spectacular!
We discussed man’s need for salvation. Short version: God is holy and natural man is not.
We went off on a few tangents. We will discuss the Atonement and what happened on the cross more next week. In the meantime, here is an article by Tom Stegall that describes Christ’s death on the cross:
Did Christ Die Physically and Spiritually? by Tom Stegall.
Here is another thingy. A booklet that we published a few years ago on James 2. In my opinion, James 2 is one of the best proof texts against Salvation through Lordship:
“Does James Contradict the Bible? by Paul Miles (Russian, Ukrainian)
Thanks again for being a part of this group! Looking forward to next time!!!
In Christ,
Paul
Part III: The Atonement
Halfway through the Spectacular! In this session, we discuss ‘Atonement.’
Part IV: Fancy Theological Words
In this installment of the September Soteriology Spectacular, we discuss some theological terms that are helpful in describing salvation.
New vocabulary words include:
Redemption
Propitiation
Expiation
Reconciliation
Substitution
Regeneration
Imputation
Thanks again for your participation!!!

Part V: Faith
Thus concludes the September Soteriology Spectacular! It has been an edifying study. Our last session is on the words, “faith,” “belief,” and “believe.” There have been some efforts to redefine saving faith to include works, but as we see in this session, those arguments fall flat.
Thanks again for a great spectacular!!!
